How the shockwaves spread

The New York Times has a useful graphic that shows how the wave spread across the Indian Ocean.

Computer simulation by the NOAA based on seismic data from the event.

The larger .mov version gives a better view of the scale of the tsunami. And the scale is mind boggling. Yachts racing along the west coast of Tasmania yesterday were reporting unusual swell conditions as a result of the tsunami. Tasmania is almost invisible in the bottom right hand corner of the map.
